What To Expect

Zigong Dinosaur Museum

In the morning, your guide and driver from Sichuan Adventure will pick you up from your hotel and drive to Zigong, which is 180 km (about 112 miles) away from Chengdu and will take about 2.5 hours on the way.

You’ll first visit Zigong Dinosaur Museum when arriving. The museum sits on top of a large concentration of a diverse dinosaur assemblage. It claims the largest number of dinosaur fossils in the world. The museum exhibits fossils of dinosaurs that have been excavated here. This is China’s first museum located at the actual burial site of dinosaurs. You will absolutely learn a lot about the dinosaurs at this great museum.

In the afternoon, visit Zigong’s Salt History Museum. You will learn a lot about the history of salt production in China as well as the beautiful traditional Chinese architecture. If there is still enough time after your visit to the museum, you may take a walk around and maybe enjoy a cup of tea at the unusual riverside Wangye Temple Teahouse, which is considered by many as the best of Sichuan.
