What To Expect

Bell and Drum Towers
This tour has two options for departure time, you can either choose the departure time at 9am in the morning or 3pm in the afternoon.

After the tour guide pick you up from your hotel lobby at Beijing downtown area, then come to the famous Drum Tower which was for centuries the tallest building in Beijing, lording it over the surrounding hutong. Up in the 46m-high tower, the great drums would beat to sound the curfew after nightfall in the Qing dynasty, and thereafter every two hours to coordinate the patrols of the city's nightwatch. Climb the steep stairs to hear a touristy drumming performance every hour from 9.30am.Originally built in 1272, the Drum Tower (and the Bell Tower to the north) are aligned on Beijing's central axis, at the heart of the former Mongol-led Yuan capital of Dàdū, as Beijing was then known. It was rebuilt by Emperor Yongle as part of his grand plan for Ming dynasty Beijing. Since then it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times.

Nanluoguxiang
After finish the visit of Drum Tower, then come to Nanluogu Hutong which was the local oldest Hutong in Beijing,it is a north–south strip of snack stalls, small food courts, souvenir shops and more people than you can possibly imagine crowding onto a single street. The main reason to visit is to delve into the quieter alleys that cross the main lane, where you'll turn up a more compelling array of cafes, bars and restaurants between historic residences.

Hungry now? Let's go to a local very popular restaurant to taste the famous traditional Old Beijing hot pot,it is very yummy and you can dip all kinds of food materials in the hot pot which has burning charcoal under the pot, Beijingers love it very much, lamb and beef dip inside with some other vegetables, it is not spicy hot as Sichuan hot pot, the sauce is sesame sauce. So if you don't eat spicy, this will be a perfect choice for you. The meal and drinks are included.

This tour will be finished here, you can have a walk around the beautiful Houhai lake nearby after the meal.
