What To Expect

Lama Temple (Yonghegong)

Your guide will pick you up at your hotel (within the 3rd ring road) either in the morning or afternoon. Then, head to the nearest metro station and board the train for the Lama Temple. During the journey, your guide will explain everything you need to know about the Beijing Metro System and the city’s vast public transport network.

Upon arrival at Lama temple, the former residence of Emperor Yongzheng before his ascent to the throne, admire the huge wood-carved "Maidala Buddha" in the Ten-Thousand-Buddha Pavilion (Wanfoge). Hear how the statue was carved out of a single tree imported from Tibet and learn why it made it into the 1993 Guiness Book of World Records.
