What To Expect

Shaanxi History Museum
The tour starts with your guide and driver picking you up from your hotel at 9:00 am. Please get ready before the meeting up time so you may have more time for the tour.

You will firstly visit the Shaanxi History Museum, which is the first modern national museum. It was built in 1983 and opened to the public in 1991. Now 370,000 exhibits in the museum vividly show the history of over a million years from prehistoric times (1,150,000 years ago - 21st Century BC) to about 1840 AD. As Xi’an was the capital of ancient China for 13 dynasties, the historic treasures preserved here are of great value and you can gain a wide insight into the life of ancient Chinese.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayanta)
After that you will visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, one of the most famous Buddhist pagodas in China. Originally built in 652 AD during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), it functioned to collect Buddhist materials that were taken from India by the hierarch Xuanzang. Now the surrounding area is equipped with many entertainment and relaxation facilities. The locals enjoy spending time there, so it will be a good chance for you to mix with the local people.

Xi'an City Wall (Chengqiang)
Then move on to the city center and visit the City Wall, which was initially built as a military defense system over 600 years ago and now it is a popular travel destination. Walking on the wall, you can easily see the vast difference between the modern Xi’an outside the wall and the old Xi’an inside. If you are daring, you may ride a bicycle to quickly tour around it.

Muslim Quarter
Afterwards, continue visiting the Bell & Drum Tower Square. The area is the heart and landmark of Xian. With walking distance, you can easily find a bustling and lively area, the Muslim Street. The place is packed with snack and boutique stalls, which means it is the place you try out local cuisines and buy friends and family souvenirs. Shredded Pancake in Beef Soup or Lamb Soup, Cold Noodles and Roujiamo etc. are all feasts for your mouth. Your guide will be pleased to offer you some advice and help.
