Overview
The main pass in the river valley is called Gubeikou. It is said that of all the 2900 wars happened in Chinese history, nearly 1/3 took place here. Well strategically located inbetween China, Mogolia& Manchuria.
Over from the other side of the river the wall is on the mild hills called Hidden Dragen.
Opposite to the wall on the west bank, this wall snakes up and down eastward for a long distance of 4hrs without obvious elivation. The wall was also badly destroyed in the wall, hikers need to constantly take the toepath aloneside the wall, or on the narrow wall. After the first 1.5hr the wall is wider and more solid.
After another 2hrs, we come to a huge hollow tower, which marks the beginning of a military base, where we need to come around by taking the path in the valley down and then up through a few really rural villege. Steep up a slippery sandy path to the end of the military base is the only way to go back to the wall at Jinshanling.
