What To Expect

Shu Feng Ya Yun Sichuan Opera
Sichuan Opera (Chuan Ju, Sichuanese Opera) is one of China's oldest and most popular opera forms, which is totally different from operas you may appreciate other places. Dated back to the Three Kingdoms period (200 AD), Sichuan opera prospers to this day with perfect blending of many unique elements, say, local dialect, customs, folk music and dances. Featuring vivid, humorous narration, singing, and acrobatics, the Sichuan opera performances are also full of wit and humor, with most of its repertoires adapted from the Chinese classical novels, mythologies, legends, and folk tales. Different from Beijing opera, Chinese national opera, Sichuan Opera is less constrained by the form, and thus with more originality elements. It also stands out for its tricky performance, the face change techniques! There are three types of face changes, wiping mask that uses cosmetics, blowing mask that uses powders and pulling mask.
Now, we can guarantee your place at this popular show by pre-booking entry in advance, and a variety of different-tiered seating options, VIP-Class seats, first class seats, and second-class seats are available. Exquisite snacks and Sichuan tea are served. After the performance, you can even try on opera costumes and take photos.
