What To Expect

Summer Palace (Yiheyuan)

Meet your private guide in the lobby of your Beijing hotel and transfer by air-conditioned car to Summer Palace. Construction of the Summer Palace commenced in 1750 as a park for members of the Royal Family to relax. Toward the end of the Qing Dynasty it became the main residence for the Royal Family members. A major reconstruction took place commencing in 1888 and it is rumored that the Empress Dowager Cixi took money that was to be used for rebuilding the Chinese navy and used it to rebuild the Summer Palace instead. Inside the vast parkland of the Summer Palace you can enjoy hills, lakes and thousands of man-made ancient structures in an area of almost 750 acres. One of the most popular parts of the Summer Palace is the Lake area that consists of Kunming Lake and Back Lake, with causeways, bridges, pavilions and the famous Marble Boat to be enjoyed. Kunming Lake boat tour is available from April to October at your own cost.

Mutianyu Great Wall

Walking out of Summer Palace,you will be driven to Huairou district where Mutianyu section of Great Wall is located. After approximately 1.5 hours you will arrive at the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. This section of the Great Wall predates the section at Badaling and was built to protect the capital and the imperial tombs located to the south. The Mutianyu section was rebuilt in 1569 and today it is the best preserved and most extensive section of the wall, with the greatest density of watch towers.A special feature of Mutianyu is the chair lift and gondola that will take people up to the ridges the wall runs along. After an introduction from your guide, you will have time to explore this section of the wall and to enjoy the surrounding forest scenery. Lunch will be arranged in a local restaurant with Chinese dishes.

P.S: Tour price includes round-way cable car or round-way cable chair charges.If you are interested in taking gondola down to the hill,extra charge CNY100 per person should be paid by yourself.
