To the east of the tomb of the first Qin Emperor, who unified all of China more than two thousand years ago, 3 pits were successively discovered, where the terracotta funerary army was buried as guard of the deceased emperor, the number 1 being the largest in all. Inside this pit are 6,000 life-size figures of terracotta warriors and steeds, as well as numerous ancient weapons. This archaeological find is considered the "Eighth Wonder of the World", in 1979 a museum was erected on this grave. In addition there are pit 2 and 3 and a bronze carriage museum.
