Glutinous rice cake is a term for old Chinese-style confectionary in general. It was very popular in Tang dynasty (618 - 907), which is an unbaked premium sweet traditionally served with tea during the tea ceremony. The elaborate figure represents the seasons that it is eaten and may vary monthly.
