Visiting Shanghai without seeing the Old Town is not a complete trip. This private 2-hour walking tour takes you to explore the famous Yu Garden and old street where you can appreciate the 5-century old private garden as well as to have a glimpse of charming Qing-Dynasty architecture in the old town bazaar. Yu Garden (Yuyuan)

Your local friendly guide will meet you at your downtown Shanghai hotel lobby, then head up to the old town area. Pay a visit to the 5-century old elegant garden once built by the government officer to please his parents, delve yourself in the poetic and tranquil scenery with beautiful rockeries, steams, ponds and pavilions, listening to the local old customs, history and culture from your knowledgeable guide; marvel at the charming Qing Dynasty architectures and amazing 21st century artistic skyscrapers while walking through lucky nine-turning zigzag bridge and the oldest Hu Xin Ting Tea house.

Continue your tour to old town bazaar in the small streets to explore the local market and vendors. There are tea, antiques, local folks, souvenirs and toys to everyday items and clothing, and random weirdness. A fun shopping wonderland for you to select some local souvenirs with the assistance of your expert guide.

After the 2-hour swift adventure, your tour will be concluded in the old town area. You can choose to browse around in the area by yourself or your guide will provide you the instruction by taxi or metro back to your hotel or other places in the city you prefer.

Sunny was wonderful and extremely friendly. She was very knowledgeable. I learned a lot about Yu Garden and Old Town. I would recommend this tour. The garden is incredibly beautiful.

Fantastic introduction to Shanghai

Arriving in Shanghai after dark last night had me questioning my ability to navigate the city on my own. Sunny’s tour immediately put me at ease. I can’t believe how much we crammed into two hours - Old Town, Yu Garden, the French Concession. At the end of the tour Sunny was kind enough to drop me off at the Shanghai Art Museum so I could continue exploring on my own. She gave me perfect directions for returning to my hotel on foot. Her thoughtfulness and attention to detail were very much appreciated. Highly recommend this tour!

Shanghai Yu Garden and Old Town Private Tour

MY spouse and I truly enjoyed this private walking tour through old Shanghai. Our guide Sunny was wonderful. She came to meet us at our hotel promptly at 8:30 am. She ordered a Chinese Uber type car service to take us to Old Town Shanghai. Sunny was very knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. Her English speaking skills are excellent. She was very quick to answer any of our questions, and if she didn't know she would use her phone to search for the answer. It was a beautiful morning to walk through the Garden. The Yu Gardens are beautifully planted and well maintained. There are several pavilions to walk through with ponds and water features to enjoy. Sunny made references to the history of the Yu Gardens and any architectural features as we made our way through. She was also very accommodating when we wanted to shop in old town. She translated for us which was very helpful. After our tour she even accompanied us to The French Concession where she suggested we have a cold beer and lunch at The Refinery Shanghai Brewery. We did, and it was the perfect spot. Great for relaxing while people watching and a enjoying tasty lunch. I highly recommend this tour, and especially appreciated our Guide Sunny. You will too.
