Xing'an Waterway
The Ling canal is in Xing'an county, about 70km north of Guilin. It was built from 219 to 214 BC, to transport supplies to the armies of the First Qin emperor, and is considered to be one of the three great feats of Chinese engineering. The 34km canal links Xiang River and Li River, connecting two of China's major waterways. It made the list of the Heritage Irrigation Structures in 2018.

Upon entering this area, you'll be able to learn about how China innovated thousands of years ago, and see the full achievement in all its splendor. This complex canal is a wonder of China's technological advancements and you can learn about its history and method at the site. If you like, you will be able to walk along the canal and see the old buildings, still standing, built in China's traditional style. There is also the opportunity to go boating if you wish so you can discover even more of the area's hidden gems.
