What To Expect

Drepung Monastery (Zhebang Si)
At 9:30am, the tour guide will be in the lobby of clients' Hotel, Lhasa, to provide transportation to Drepung Monastery, one of the 'great three' Gelug university monasteries of Tibet, founded in 1416 by Jamming Choge, one of Tsongkhapa's main disciples.

Drepung Monastery was used as the Dalai Lama's palace in the Drepung before permanently relocating to Potala Palace. The grand monastery was built along the mountains covering over 650,000 square feet. With numerous mansions and zigzagging alleys, the monastery looks like an impressive city in itself.
