We especially enjoyed walking around the market, tasting different things and seeing the little shops in the market. Definitely a must do if you want to try a wide range of food.
Lily was very friendly, meeting me right at the metro exit and immediately heading to a local market. She would offer explanations of local products (helping me with the chinese names as she knew that I was learning mandarin) and buying and sampling all sorts of items from jackfruit to scallion pancakes. The dumpling restaurant was a highlight as it was delicious and filling.
It was great to have an insider perspective of some fun locations to eat. It is not just snacks provided; it's lots of food so more like dinner plus snacks. Lily even walked me to a craft brewery at the end of the tour which was amazing of her as I still wanted a beer and to explore further.
I had a great time and recommend this, particularly for solo travelers. Note - Beijing's subway is convenient but I am glad that I planned on it taking an extra 10 minutes as it did.
