Fantastic wild and unrestorted section of the wall

If you want to see and climb on a wild and unrestored section of the wall, this is your trip. Be prepared to climb one hour from the parking place until you reach the wall . On top you will enjoy the incredible view, walk (mostly climb) around an unrestored wall section. Climb up and down between towers and make your pictures with no one disturbing you. This section of the wall is very remote . We only saw 3 different people during our 4hour climb. Our guide Sun was awesome. He showed us around and was helpful on the climbing. If you not into climbing over rocks this trip is not for you. If you live wild and remote areas , thats your trip. Come prepared and carry water and food - there is nothing around for hours..We can recommend this trip if you enjoy being off the typical tourist track.
No crowds, unrestored wall, fantastic service
Very pleased with the service! I’d say this is an experience for people who meet ALL these conditions: fit for scrambling, adventurers (you’re left alone to explore), interested in avoiding crowds (we were completely alone up there), and keen on seeing the wall in its original, unrestored form. Our driver arrived on time and he was very courteous. He didn’t speak English, but he had a translator on his phone which worked fine. He hiked with us leading the way through to the wall section for us to explore. The hike was strenuous! We did it in about 35 minutes and I don’t think we could have done it faster; the driver had a fast pace, but we were happy with this pace. Upon arrival at the wall, the driver lefts us to explore on our own and waited for us at the carpark. We spent about 1.5 hours exploring, not going far at all because this section of the wall is seriously falling apart. We walked past signs saying ‘this section of the wall is not open for the public’, which didn’t surprise us – it felt quite dangerous to walk along. The path is full of unstable slabs and incredibly steep sections. Saying that, it was amazing! we loved the experience of being alone on the great wall! Sadly, we went on a foggy day which really limited the views, so I’d suggest checking the weather beforehand.

This was one of the coolest experiences in my entire life. The hike is rigorous, but fun! The views once you get to the top of the wall are truly breathtaking.
Also, our driver was really cool. He spoke English very well and gave us a few recommendations for our time in Beijing.

We had the friendliest driver who helped us find our way. Jiankou was AMAZING!! A good hike up to the wall but absolutely worth the views. I will recommend this to everyone.

If you are looking for a nice hike and an isolated part of the wall then this is definitely worth it. Approximately 300m elevation gain but the views are worth it. The only minor negative is that it is somewhat expensive. You get a car ride to the trail start and a car ride back to Beijing which is fine but a little pricey....
