What To Expect

Mutianyu Great Wall
Your driver and guide will pick you up from your Beijing city hotel at 8:00am. It takes about 1.5 hours to the Wall from downtown Beijing.

The Great Wall at Mutianyu is a little further from Beijing than the most popular section at Badaling, but it doesn't get as crowded. This section of the Wall is fully restored, there are hand rails to help you up on the very steep parts and the views are spectacular.

Ming Tombs (Ming Shishan Ling)
After a nice lunch at local Chinese restaurants, we will visit the Ming Tombs. Ming Tombs are mausoleums of thirteen emperors of the Ming dynasty. It is the largest clusters of imperial cemeteries in China.Since 1409 with the construction of Changling Tomb for Emperor Zhu Di, the Ming Tombs was completed in 1644 when the Emperor Chongzhen was buried in Siling Tomb. There are three parts are opened to public, the Sacred Way, Changling Tomb and Dingling Tomb. The Sacred Way is the first attraction of Ming Tombs, which is a main way leading to the thirteen imperial tombs inside the scenic area. The two lines of stone lifelike sculptures (12 beasts and 6 officials) on both sides are the highlight of the Sacred Way which are quite popular with visitors.

Among the Ming Tombs,Changling is the largest, earliest and most magnificent with best preserved found constructions. Dingling is the only one that the underground palace was excavated. You will visit one of them based on your interests.

After finishing your trip to Great Wall and the Ming Tombs, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Snowy Great Wall of China

Visited here on our first full day in Beijing. Miko our tour leader and the driver picked us up from the hotel which is very convenient in China since not a lot of people speak english. The Great Wall was an interesting walk though a little slippery and very cold when we visited. Miko was very professional in giving us the history of the wall and answered all our questions. He was very keen of talking pictures for us which meant we could keep our gloves on. Had a lunch at a traditional tea house which was also very good as you can taste what the Chinese home cooking is. Ming tombs was also interesting although a bit of a downer after the amazing Great wall. Miko also helped us do some shopping after the tour. Don't usually do these kinds of tours but I loved this one.

Very nice way to explore all of Beijing’s main sites within a day and not have to worry about transportation or getting lost. Lunch was also provided at a local restaurant! Our guide Coco was on time to pick us up and made sure we got back in time for our evening tour. She also took a lot of photos for us!

Lucy was an excellent Tour guide! She went above and beyond our expectations. We wanted to make a last minute change to our circuit and she immediately jumped on the phone to get the approvals to accommodate our request. She was very knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly. Thanks Lucy for such an amazing Tour!!!

Lucy did a fantastic job as our guide, she was clear on what we were doing, provided loads of great information and was always available to everyone for advice.

Really enjoyed her company on our trip, everyone really loved their day trip to the wall and the included meal was really great and fresh, she even helped us buy treats to eat in the village.

Both the tombs and the Great Wall were awe inspiring to visit--a must-see for any traveler.

Lucy, our private guide for the Mutianyu Great Wall and Ming Tombs tours, was the best guide we've had on any of our international trips. If we return to Beijing, we will be asking for her!
