Expert Tip. Beijing's Summer Palace and its Chinese classical garden are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The palace was built in the 12th and 13th centuries and later expanded. Set on over 700 acres, most of it occupied by Kunming Lake. The complex includes over 3,000 pavilions, bridges, towers and stunning examples of Chinese art and architecture.
